Worldwide music publishing administration, which includes services such as copyright registration, ASCAP/BMI/SESAC song registrations, music licensing (mechanical, synch, digital, ringtunes, video games, greeting cards, iPhone apps, etc.), music clearance, sample clearance and licensing, royalty statement preparation, and resolving copyright disputes and counter-claims.

Creative Services:

Steigen is connected to a number of music supervisors and A&R executives and pitches songs for film/TV/video game placements and for artists looking for songs.  Steigen also coaches his songwriters and producers in the creative process and provides constructive feedback and guidance along the way.  In addition, he works closely with companies in the digital space and helps them develop business strategies, including music licensing and royalty models for the 21st Century.

Publishing Catalog Valuations and Acquisitions:

Steigen has in his capacity as Director of Provident's Publishing & Royalties Department put together financials and presentations of several high-profile songwriter catalogs to determine their Net Publisher's Share, and also shopped them to potential buyers. 
Such an analysis includes a number of different parts, including at-source earnings by song title, income type and territory.  The final result is a nice presentation which includes biographical material, sales data, chart information, illustrations, NPS analysis, and licensing income analysis.

Royalty Accounting and Licensing Services for Record Labels:

Contract review; set-up of payees, contract terms and product data in royalty system; review of label copy and preparation of mechanical rate sheets; preparation of royalty statements, including publisher and DVD synch statements, artist/producer statements, net profit and joint venture statements; drafting and negotiation of DVD synch, master use and mechanical/digital licenses.

Music Clearance:

Requesting songs for TV shows, movies and commercials; preparing request forms, issuing licenses, preparing music cue sheets.

Neighboring Rights:

Affiliation of artists, producers and record labels with neighboring rights societies around the world to collect sound recording performance royalties.

Review of royalty statements and contracts, comparisons between artist statements and publishing statements, analysis and comparisons of royalty statements from the PRO's.
